You will find several international medical insurance plans in the market today.
Typically, these plans protect the insured only while he or she is outside
of their "Home Country." These plans will only cover you in the USA
if you do not plan to immigrate to the United States. As soon as you become
a USA resident or citizen, coverage ceases.
"Inbound Immigrant"
Administered by Seven
Corners,
Inc. (SCI)
• This is a low-cost plan for non-US
citizens recently coming to the USA. (You must have been living in the USA for
less than one year to be eligible.)
• This is a "Schedule
of Benefits" program, providing up to 5
years of basic medical coverage to non-US citizens who are in the USA to immigrate.
•
This plan is not a comprehensive
"Major Medical" plan. It should only be used until
you are eligible and able to obtain USA "Major
Medical" health insurance coverage.

The Question I Am Most Often Asked: "When am I
considered a US immigrant?"
The answer can vary,
depending on individual circumstances. If you are
living in the USA on a permanent Visa, you no longer
maintain a resident address in your former Home
Country, and you don't have a return-trip ticket,
then you would almost certainly be considered a US
immigrant. (Regular US Visitors insurance would not
be appropriate in this case.)
Under other
circumstances, even if your goal is to immigrate
to the USA, you may still be eligible for temporary
US Visitors insurance. If you are not sure,
email me with your contact telephone number and
some suggested best-times to call.
